Balanced Beans were thrilled to sponsor the Maitland Business Chamber‘s 2023 Women in Business networking breakfast on March 8.
It was the second consecutive year that we held Gold Sponsorship of this event that celebrates the professional and business lives of women; a topic that resonates strongly with us as female business owners.
The theme of the breakfast aligned with International Women’s Day’s #embraceequity campaign. We learnt that equity and equality are often used interchangeably but they don’t mean the same thing. Equality is the end goal; equity is how to get there. We loved MC Melanie Bird’s brilliant example of the difference between the two terms: “Equality is ensuring everybody has a pair of shoes. Equity is ensuring that everybody has a pair of shoes that fit.”
Held in a stunning gallery space at Maitland Regional Art Gallery, we heard from a panel of truly inspiring and charismatic speakers who discussed the work they do including sharing some of the highlights and challenges of their business journeys: Justine Whipper, Deb Barwick, Kari Armytage and Amorelle Dempster.
